The New Year Baby
Every wonder where the idea of using a baby at New Year came from? Yep, the Greeks! The baby as a symbol of the New Year began in Greece around 600 BC. The greeks would parade a baby around in a basket to celebrated the annual rebirth of Dionysus the god of wine and fertility. The early Christians denounced this practice as pagan but it eventually was accepted as a symbol of rebirth.
Καλή χρονιά.
